learn the basics of zine-making in this in beginner friendly Intro to photo zine workshop with local photographer Frances Bukovsky.

Learn basic flat needle felting techniques to make your own garden tote bag! Students will spend part of the class designing and creating their patch on a wool sheet of fabric which will then be sewn onto the tote.

intro to photo zine workshop
Learn the basics of zine-making in this beginner friendly Intro to Photo Zine workshop with local photographer Frances Bukovsky. In this 2-hour workshop, students will learn three different zine styles, be introduced to printing for booklets, experiment with adding writing and collage elements to their zine, and play with building narratives through sequencing choices and layout. Students will use their own photographs (cell phone photos encouraged!) to explore zine making as a tool of self-expression, archiving, and mark making. This workshop is great for all ages who want to explore ways of sharing photographs and experiences outside of a digital platform.

intro to cyanotype (sun printing)
with Eric Carroll of Canie Creek Community College
Join artist & educator Eric William Carroll (www.ericwilliamcarroll.com and www.blueridgeblueprints.com) as he introduces you to thhe photographic process known as cyanotype or "sun printing". Eric will provide a brief overview of the process, help you sensitize your sheets of paper and walk you through the exposure and development processes. Each participant will have time to make approximately four 12" x 9" compositions and will leave with a folder of all their prints, cyanotype instructions & supply lists and a frame for framing their work. No experience is necessary and suitable for all ages (participants younger than 10 should have adult supervision).
