Plant Doctor Fiddle Leaf Fig Care Guide:

Ficus Lyrata, aka "Fiddle Leaf Figs" prefer bright, indirect light. They will do best with as much bright light as possible but cannot tolerate long periods of direct sunlight as they can get sunburnt.

Fiddles dislike drafts or being near air vents that can dry them out or create inconsistent temperatures. They can get easily shocked by sudden changes in their environment so be sure to find a good spot and keep them there. Shock will cause leaves to drop.

They like to dry out slightly in between waterings. Water once every 7-14 days depending on the time of year. During the warmer months they will require more water as they will dry out quicker.

Allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out, and then water thoroughly, allowing water to drain out of the bottom of the plant.

*Ficus are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. The milky sap can also cause contact irritation to sensitive skin. Small amounts of ingested material can be mildly poisonous and may cause some irritation or even vomiting. It is unlikely that a pet or child will eat large amounts because of the taste and texture but if large portions of ficus have been ingested, please seek medical help or call a poison hotline.
